Fraserside Community Services Society launching fall campaign to raise $20,000
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Fraserside’s Fall Fundraising Campaign to raise funds for Pandemic Response and Highest Priority Needs
August 31, 2020 (New Westminster, BC) — In response to the increased need and skyrocketing expenses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fraserside Community Services has launched their first ever fall fundraising campaign. This Board led campaign aims to raise $20,000 to support Fraserside’s Pandemic Response and highest priority needs, with the campaign running from September-December 2020.
During the COVID-19 crisis, Fraserside Community Services Society has remained open, supporting vulnerable people in the community with additional services and safety measures. Additional services since the beginning of the pandemic include:
- Healthy Meal Delivery to low income individuals or those at risk for homelessness
- Care Packages of hygiene items, PPE’s and basic needs to all persons served
- Virtual, small group or one on one programming for people living with developmental disabilities, substance use or mental health issues
- Shields around dining room tables for families at the Family Emergency
- Counselling phone calls for people suffering from substance use
- Regular check ins by phone to all clubhouse members suffering from chronic mental illness
From supporting basic needs, to adapting programs, to providing PPE’s, Fraserside has worked tirelessly to support those facing the most barriers in society to stay safe and to stay well. Funds raised from this campaign will go toward Fraserside’s ongoing COVID-19 response measures and toward Fraserside’s mission for creating more inclusive communities.
“We need to come together to support local needs and keep our communities strong” says CEO Lynda Edmonds. “Fraserside exists to serve our most vulnerable, those living in poverty or with complex needs and whose disadvantages create a barrier to participating in the same quality of life many of us may take for granted. Many of the people we serve are residents in our neighbourhoods and due to the COVID-19 crisis, our neighbours need more help than ever before”.
The Fall Fundraising Campaign 2020 will conclude on December 18th . Donations can be made online by visiting: www.fraserside.bc.ca/donate or call 604-522-3722 ext. 111.
