Excellence in Care: Fraserside Awarded 3-Year CARF International Accreditation Renewal
At Fraserside Community Services Society, providing a foundation of stability means anchoring everything we do in continuous quality improvement, dignity, and person-centred care. We are proud to share that following an extensive peer-review site survey, Fraserside has officially been awarded a 3-Year CARF Accreditation Renewal, valid through May 31, 2029.
What is CARF Accreditation?
CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) International is an independent, non-profit accreditor of health and human services. Recognized as the benchmark of quality for more than 50 years, CARF accreditation serves as an international "seal of approval". It signals to our participants, funders, and community partners that Fraserside provides world-class support grounded in rigorous standards of accountability and continuous performance improvement.
Comprehensive Service Coverage
This 3-Year Accreditation covers Fraserside’s full spectrum of community supports:
-
Housing & Crisis Supports: Community Housing, Supported Living, and the Rapid Rehousing & Homelessness Prevention Program (Family Emergency Shelter).
-
Counselling & Behavioural Health: Outpatient Treatment for Substance Use Disorders/Addictions (Adults, Children, and Adolescents).
-
Inclusion & Employment: Community Integration and Community Employment Services (Employment Supports & Job Development).
Recognized Strengths Across Our Operations
During their multi-day evaluation, CARF surveyors highlighted key strengths that define our daily work:
-
Person-Centred Care: Recognizing our deeply empathic staff, responsive leadership, and focus on long-term well-being that helps participants move beyond survival to build true autonomy.
-
Safe, Home-like Environments: Celebrating our well-maintained residential homes and the transformative, supportive environment provided by our Family Emergency Shelter for women and children in housing crisis.
-
Deep Community Integration: Honoring our long-standing presence in central New Westminster and our strong networks across the Lower Mainland that connect individuals to holistic care.
Celebrating Our Team and Community
Accreditation is far more than a certificate on the wall—it is a direct reflection of the hard work, passion, and expertise our team brings to work every single day. Whether preparing documentation, participating in surveyor interviews, or continuing to deliver compassionate direct care throughout the process, our staff made this milestone possible.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our frontline team, leadership, board of directors, and valued partners—including BC Housing, Community Living British Columbia, and Fraser Health—whose ongoing collaboration ensures Fraserside remains a trusted safety net and growth engine for our community.
